Security
Sadly your motorhome is very attractive to thieves and Campton Insurance Brokers (UK) Ltd recommend
the fitment of extra security devices in order to minimise the risk of theft. In some circumstance
fitment is compulsory. You should consider the following to minimise risk:
Storage
If possible keep your motor caravan in a garage at home. Alternatively under a car port with
some sort of locked barrier/post preventing access.
Alarms and immobilisers
Most new motor caravans come with an engine immobiliser (this is fitted by the base vehicle
manufacturer), but this doesnt always protect the vehicle fully once it has been converted.
Campton recommend the fitment of an approved alarm and immobiliser (preferrable a Thatcham Category 1
alarm/immobiliser)
Tracking Devises
As alarm/immobilisers have become more sophisticated it is now a fact that most vehicles are stolen
using the vehicle keys! Either the thieves rob your house or just stop you and demand the
keys by menace. The fitment of a good quality Tracking Device is one of the best ways to get your
vehicle back after it has been stolen.
